Gallery: Huskers Roll Past Miss. Valley St.

The Huskers opened their season in grand fashion knocking off the Delta Devils 97-51.

It's been a while since the Huskers have put together an offensive performance like this one. In fact, it's the most points they have scored in nearly a decade when they put up 107 in a win over North Carolina A&T on December 17, 2005. The Huskers hit 10 three's and saw 12 players notch the score sheet. Only Benny Parker and Johnny Trueblood failed to put up any points.

Andrew White III led the way with 18 points including hitting on four of his six three point attempts. Jack McVeigh also had a nice Husker debut scoring 16 points. Another contribution of note came from Nick Fuller, mostly expected to play a reserve role this season, scored 10 points and grabbed a team high nine rebounds. The Huskers attempted 34 free throws in this game, another positive sign, as they struggled to get to the line last season.

The young Huskers will will see a much stiffer challenge next. NU will head to Philadelphia to take on Villanova Tuesday night. The Wildcats are ranked #11 and were a #1 seed in last year's NCAA tournament. The game tips off at 7:30 pm CT and can be seen on Fox Sports 1.
