The Big Ten Network released it's preseason basketball predictions today and our beloved Huskers landed at......#11.
This is a bit of a drop off from last years preseason prediction where we started out at #5 in the conference. Then again, last year we were coming off one of the best seasons in over a decade and were returning a bulk of the team.
For the 2015-16 year, it's a little different. The Huskers did not live up to the hype and ended the the 2014-15 year at 13-18 with no trip to a post season tournament. To make it even tougher we lost our best player, Terran Petteway, to the pros.
Teams such as Maryland, Michigan State, Indiana, and Wisconsin are most likely to be ranked in the top 25 to start the year. Following them are the likes of Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio State which might have a little drop off, but are still decent teams. Looking at what happened last year and the teams picked ahead of us, I can see why the Big Ten Media has us at this spot.
Nebraska Guard/Forward Shevon Shields was picked as one of the top two underrated players along with Malcom Hill of Illinois. No Nebraska players were chosen to the All Big Ten Team.
