Corn Flakes: Starting The New Year With A Blank Slate

New, 4 comments
Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

The New Year starts today, really. Real work is a little slow right now, which has me a little worried. I'm sure something will come along. It always does.

The New Year always gives us the chance to wipe away everything and start with a clean slate, and when I say "clean", I mean clean. That includes removing all of those grudges you like to carry around with you from last season. That guy/gal that said/did this about/to me.

I don't have that problem - carrying grudges, honestly, and the reason I don't is because I forget everything and the reason that I forget everything is that there is too much going on and I can't remember it all so I don't even bother anymore.

The building project might actually have begun while the coach was spending a year away from the game. Urban Meyer had resigned at Florida for health reasons. He was biding his time as a TV talking head. Anfd he was intrigued by what was unfolding in the Pacific Northwest.

Emotional Ndamukong Suh Leaves Presser In Tears

When Ndamukong Suh approached the podium for his postgame news conference, he asked that the questions remain in the present while the tears running from his eyes suggest everything about his future.

I tried to watch this game yesterday and all I saw was Detroit get screwed, Suh and his counterparts get held nearly every play and it reminded me why I don't watch much NFL football anymore.

Detroit should have gone for it on 4th and 1 near midfield late, but, hey, it's the NFL, the most boring, predictable of all things football.

The Lions haven't won a playoff game since the 1991 season, their last win coming against the Dallas Cowboys. I would imagine that Suh would have liked to help Detroit break that streak. Now he'll probably never get the chance.
