If you thought things were bad with the loss of Charles Jackson for the '14 season due to injury... well, start wincing. Because another big bomb was dropped in a e-mail from the Nebraska Cornhuskers SID Friday afternoon.
#Huskers safety LeRoy Alexander has been suspended for the 2014 season, Nebraska just announced
— Jon Nyatawa (@JonNyatawa) August 8, 2014
The e-mail states:
The following statement is from the Nebraska Athletics Department:
"Nebraska sophomore defensive back LeRoy Alexander has been suspended from competition for the 2014 football season. Alexander will remain on scholarship as a member of the Nebraska football program and will be allowed to practice with the team. Coach Pelini and the Nebraska Athletics Department will have no additional comment on this matter."
With the suspension of Alexander and the loss of Jackson for the season, the Husker Secondary takes another big hit. Senior Corey Cooper is now definitely the elder statesman of the Safety issue, and Nathan Gerry just got boosted up into a possible starting role.
We will have much more on this if and when more news breaks.
