Corn Flakes: Maryland Guarantees Four-Year Scholarships

It didn't make the biggest splash of the college football news, that being that Braxton Miller is gone for the season, but the University of Maryland announced that they would guarantee life-time scholarships for their student athletes.

It's not like Maryland is the biggest name in athletics, so the fact that they're willing to do this should put some pressure on other schools to start following suit, especially those in the Big Ten, since the Big Ten is supposed to be all about the academics and the welfare of the student athlete.

You certainly won't expect any SEC schools to start such nonsense, but you have to wonder what will happen over the next couple years if other conferences fall in line.
