Big Ten Conference Announces Football & Basketball Championship Sites Through 2022

With the exception of the Big Ten Basketball Tournament in 2018, we know where the Football & Basketball Tournaments will be for the forseeable future.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Big Ten Conference announced today that they have come to agreements on almost all of their Football and Basketball Tournament locations through the year 2022.

The announcement, after the Conference's Presidents and Chancellors approved the deal, will keep both title venues in mostly Midwestern areas, save for at least one year on the East Coast.

Football:

The Big Ten Football Championship will be staying at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis till at least the 2022 season. The agreement was extended on the original 5 year agreement, meaning the first 11 years of the B1G Title Game will be held in Indy. There was thought of bringing the game to different spots like Ford Field in Detroit, or possibly cold weather places such as Soldier Field in Chicago.

Basketball:

The B1G also announced that the Basketball Tournament, save for 2017 in Washington DC and an unknown location in 2018, will be staying on a rotation between Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, and United Center in Chicago. Indy will host the event in 2016, 2020 and 2022, while Chicago gets the Tourney in 2015, 2019 and 2021. The Verizon Center in Washington will host the 2017 B1G Basketball Tournament, and the 2018 Tournament is still up in the air. One would have to wonder if the Prudential Center in New Jersey or the Barclays Center in Brooklyn are in the mix for that year.
