Nebraska Baseball: Huskers vs Binghamton Bearcats

Jon Johnston

Nebraska will start LHP Austin Christensen in today's elimination game rather than going with weekend starters Aaron Bummer or Kyle Kubat. Obviously, head coach Darin Erstad is looking at the big picture, saving his better pitchers for Sunday.

If the Huskers can win today, they'll need to win two games Sunday - one versus the loser of today's Cal State Fullerton vs Oklahoma State game and the second game against the game's winner.

Time: Noon

Place: Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.

Television: None

Online Stream: ESPN3

Radio: Husker Sports Network

Scouting Binghamton:

The Bearcats lost their opening NCAA tourney game to Oklahoma State, 8-0. They loaded the bases in the third and fifth innings, leaving nine on base in the first six innings, but couldn't come up with the timely hit to score runs. The Cowboys had 10 hits to Binghamton's eight.

From Regional Preview:

Record: 25-25 overall, 12-12 America East Conference play (won Conf Tourney)
Home: 9-5, Road/Neutral 16-20.
Tourney Bid: American East Tourney Champions

RPI: 157. SOS: 212. 6-4 in their last 10 games.

Playing .500 ball and losing their first game in the America East Tournament, the Bearcats won their last 4 games to take the automatic seed from the AE for the second straight year, including back to back wins against Stony Brook, who was the top seed in the Conference Tournament.
