With the regular season behind us and the Big Ten Baseball Tournament in Omaha starting tomorrow, the B1G Conference put out their postseason all-conference teams as well as many postseason awards.
Nebraska was represented well, with Michael Pritchard, Pat Kelly, and Chance Sinclair making First Team All Big Ten. That makes three All-B1G representations for Kelly, while this is the second time for Pritchard.
Pat Kelly leads the Huskers in hits, multi-hit games, RBI's, multi-RBI games and HR's, while being third in batting average. Kelly got 68 hits overall, tying him for fourth in the conference. He was one of only 2 players in the B1G to get 50 or more RBI's.
Michael Pritchard leads the B1G in doubles by outfielders. His 243 hits has him 10th overall in Nebraska history, and with one more double will be the eighth player in Nebraska history to have 20 or more doubles in a season since the turn of the century.
Chance Sinclair is the first Husker Pitcher to make a all-conference first team since Johnny Dorn did the feat in the Big 12 in 2008. Sinclair had the second best ERA (1.88) and second most wins in B1G play, behind only B1G Pitcher of the Year Joey DeNato of Indiana.
Blake Headley and Christian DeLeon both nabbed second team All B1G honors as well. Headley had a .341 average during conference play. He has 19 multi-hit games and delivered 16 of his 24 RBI's with two outs in the inning. DeLeon, who will probably be lost for the rest of the season due to arm issues, gave up a paltry 1.34 ERA during league play, which easily led the B1G. DeLeon has gone 6 or more innings in 21 of his 25 career starts, including back to back complete game wins.
Zack Hirsch picked up third team All B1G honors. Being named as one of the top 50 relievers in the nation according to National College Baseball Writers Association, Zack has given up a salty 1.24 ERA while holding batters to a Mendoza line assaulting .183 while amassing 45 strikeouts this year.
Ryan Boldt got on the all B1G Freshman team this season, while Ty Kildow was selected as Nebraska's Sportsmanship Award Winner.
The Huskers start their Big Ten title hopes tomorrow at 1pm against Ohio State in the first round of the B1G Tourney at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
