HuskerOnline's Sean Callahan reports that former Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez failed his physical with the Philadelphia Eagles, which voids his agreement reached this past weekend. Martinez was signed to play wide receiver or defensive back, not quarterback, according to sources in Philadelphia.
The Omaha World-Herald's Sam McKewon reports that Martinez's father Casey texted the paper to say that after reviewing Martinez's medical records and taking X-rays of his injured foot, the Eagles' physicians determined he had failed his physical. Furthermore, the senior Martinez says he'll urge Taylor to consider surgery on his foot, which was injured in the season opener against Wyoming. Initially reported as turf toe, the Martinez family revealed in January that it was actually a plantar plate tear.
