Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany takes big-picture view of college sports - ESPN

That doesn't mean that Delany is resistant to change. He wants to funnel more benefits to student-athletes. He recalls receiving $15 in "laundry money" at North Carolina. He is in favor of providing the full cost of attendance to scholarship recipients, which would put money in many pockets that have none.

I missed this a couple days ago, but just let me say this - until they, the power conferences, do something about their desire to make college football more "collegiate", all this talk from Delany and others is just that, talk. They have the power to do it, but there's too much consensus building that goes on in the public sector for them to move on anything.

In the meantime, they'll get pounded by lawsuits that will chip away at their mountain. I'm skeptical that change will come from someone like Delany. It will be forced by lawyers.
