Report: Nebraska Hires Mark Philipp As Strength & Conditioning Coach

The former USC assistant is reportedly the man to head Husker Power.

Per a couple of tweets floating around there, Mike Riley has hired his new man to lead the Strength and Conditioning part of the Nebraska Cornhuskers Football program.

Mark Philipp, who was on the Oregon State S&C staff a couple seasons ago, reportedly will be the man set to replace James Dobson as the head of Nebraska's S&C program.

Philipp, who looks like he was a Defensive Tackle at Southern Illinois, was an assistant under Southern Cal S&C Coach Ivan Lewis last year. Lewis was named the Samson Equipment and American Football Monthly FBS Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2013, according to this USC blog.

Philipp will be working for both Mike Riley and Boyd Epley, who was recently brought back to the University of Nebraska as the Assistant AD in charge of Strength and Conditioning. When Epley was hired, he originally was not hired to help with everything but the Football program. However, one has to wonder if that will change after the dismissal of Dobson.
