Dedrick Young, Athlete From Peoria, Arizona, Commits To Nebraska

Mike Riley gets his first true commitment from a man who looks to play Linebacker for the Huskers

Student Sports

You always remember your first. For Mike Riley and his new staff, they got their first verbal for the Nebraska Cornhuskers today. (EDIT: sorry, forgot about Tyrin Ferguson)

Dedrick Young, an Athlete that is projected to play Linebacker, has committed to Nebraska today. He picked the Huskers over Arizona State and Michigan State.

Young, a mid-level 3 star, is the 56th best Athlete in the 2015 Recruiting Cycle and the 7th best player available in the state of Arizona. He hails from Centennial HS in Peoria, Arizona.

Young was a coveted player under Bo Pelini's staff, and visited Nebraska back on September 27th for the Illinois game. He didn't take a OV nor received another offer after his Husker visit from any other school.

New Husker SC coach Trent Bray visited Young last week, and got him solidified for the Huskers and Riley's staff. There has been word that Riley may institute a 3-4 Defense, and Young would be a ideal fit for that scheme if he could start learning it immediately.

That brings Nebraska's class back to 14 verbals, and roughly 33rd in the 247 National rankings, while staying 5th in the Big Ten Conference.
