Corn Flakes: Hate Week Full Of Self-Loathing As Husker Fans Have No Identity

Noah Johnston

You realize how little talk there is of Iowa this week?

We have one regular season game left to play against an opponent we should hate a lot and there's little to nothing about it out there. Most of the talk is about Bo Pelini's future.

Isn't Iowa a rival? Or are you still stuck in the past, the way past, the so distant past that you might not even have been born yet past and think that Nebraska's true rival is still Oklahoma?

Husker fans like to complain that the Nebraska football team has no identity, particularly on offense.

This is hate week across the Big Ten Conference. Look at the games.

Minnesota plays Wisconsin for the Big Ten West division crown. These teams HATE each other.

Michigan versus Ohio State. There isn't much hate stronger than this in all of college sports.

Purdue vs Indiana. They may not be good at football, but they're still full of plenty of hate.

Nebraska's fourth year of living in the Big Ten will come to a conclusion in two days. At the end of it, Nebraska fans still have little clue as to who we are and as to where we fit.

So here we are, stuck with Iowa, another annoying black and gold team. The Hawkeyes could easily win this game for the second season in a row, win some made-up trophy and then do the one thing that Nebraskans hate most about them which is not even care about it.

Nebraska

And then there were four (Blackshirts) : Latest Husker News

There were 15 Blackshirts to start. That dwindled to seven last week after the loss to Wisconsin. Subtract three more this week.

They should toss this tradition until it becomes a source of pride again. It's a different time, different players. Fans can still wear their Blackshirts and be all happy about it, but it needs to stop being a thing.

Between the injuries and the red zone turnovers, though ... it was pretty easy to feel sorry for Nebraska on Saturday. No breaks (aside from the blocked FG, that is). And now Minnesota's one game (a likely loss, of course) away from the Big Ten West title.

Writing Is On the Wall for Beck

Interesting.... Mike Welch @RealMikeWelch · @HuskerTR @adamvlach @thebrodel Writing is on the wall for Beck. As Tommy said tonight. "If things happen, they happen."

How bad is it? This is how bad. You take a reference of nothing from a player and you turn it into multiple pages of speculation that the offensive coordinator is going to be fired.

Nobody knows anything.

I'll just leave this here:
