The fog that covered Lincoln to start the game lifted, but the doubt about the direction of the program certainly did not. The Huskers got off to a fast start vs. the Minnesota Golden Gophers, jumping to a 21-7 lead. A blocked field goal by Randy Gregory was corralled by Nate Gerry who returned it 85 yards for the touchdown. The Gophers stayed the course, however and shut down the Huskers in the second half, outscoring NU 21-3 to defeat the Huskers for the second consecutive season, 28-24.
This was surely not the way Ameer Abdullah, Kenny Bell and the rest of the seniors wanted to finish their home careers at NU. The loss doesn't help the increasing pressure mounting on their head coach, either, who, once again, will have to answer questions about his job security.
The Huskers will wrap up the regular season on Friday in Iowa City, as they take on the Hawkeyes at 11 am.
Despite the disappointing outcome, we compiled a bunch of pictures. Take a look. There's some nice stuff in there.
