Another quick one, but a lot going on:
Biggest news of the day comes in coaching circulatory as Al Borges has been fired at Michigan. Someone had to pay for the Wolverines lousy season, and it's Borges that has fallen on the sword.
It looks like Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier will be getting the job. Brian Cook at mgoblog has the breakdown on him. Nussmeier runs a pro style offense, and is a solid quarterback coach, so there is no change in philosophy for where Brady Hoke is going.
Before you get the idea that the Big Ten went down to SEC country and snatched a guy from Nick Saban, remember that Lane Kiffin was brought in earlier this year as a "consultant" on the offense. In other words, we could be looking at a situation where Nussmeier was going to be fired anyway, and Kiffin was his appointed replacement.
Nick Saban doesn't really let his assistants talk to the media, so the big question there is - will Lane Kiffykins be able to withstand it not being about him all the time without his head exploding on the sideline? I don't think so. There's way too much needy there.
And yes, it's Bobby Petrino at Louisville because they're the dumbest shits alive.
Bobby Petrino does not enhance student-athletes' experiences; he torpedoes them. And Bobby Petrino is exactly the kind of mercenary that further blurs the line between college and professional sports. Few people are in a position to know that better than Tom Jurich, the Louisville athletic director who, when Petrino was his head coach there from 2003 to '06, watched him openly flirt with multiple NFL and college suitors, then gave him a staggering 10-year contract extension to regain his commitment, only to have Petrino bolt for the Atlanta Falcons six months later.
I'd like to say that I hope they get burned, but the student athletes at Louisville don't deserve this. They should just get the hell out of there.

Texas booster calls Charlie Strong hire 'a kick in the face' - CBSSports.com
In an interview with ESPN 1250 in San Antonio, billionaire booster Red McCombs criticized the Longhorns' process and suggested that Strong is not on par with the type of candidate that Texas should be hiring to lead its football program.
Vikings fans can tell you all about what a blowhard McCombs is. "I think the whole thing is a bit sideways," McCombs said via ESPN.com. "I don't have any doubt that Charlie is a fine coach. I think he would make a great position coach, maybe a coordinator.
