According to an Omaha World-Herald report, junior guard Deverell Biggs has been dismissed from the team. Biggs had been one of the first players off the bench for Coach Tim Miles and was averaging 9.9 points a game.
Biggs has had numerous run ins with the law and missed four games this season due to disciplinary issues, including Sunday’s 82-78 win over Minnesota citing sitting out due to personal reasons.
It is believed Biggs will be allowed to remain on scholarship in an attempt to graduate and retain his final year of eligibility where he would be free to play his senior season without having to sit out a year. He had been the first Nebraska native to recieve a scholarship in 10 years prior to this dismissal.
The loss of Biggs opens up an opportunity for sophomore Benny Parker and Tai Webster to fill in the absence but there is no doubt his ability to get into the lane consistently and create opportunities for teammates will be missed. The Huskers will next take the court sans Biggs Thursday evening vs. Indiana.
