Doug McDermott scored 24 of his 28 points in the first half and No. 20 Creighton defeated fellow Big East newcomer Butler 88-60 on Tuesday night for its 10th straight win. McDermott scores 28 for No. 20 Creighton

I'll admit it - other than watching them destroy Nebraska I haven't watched a bit of Creighton basketball, yet there they are, all ranked and shit, first place in the Big East. I've hated Creighton most of my life. Coming from western Nebraska, that's pretty natural; I don't know anyone outside of Omaha who's a fan.

We haven't ever covered Creighton here, this is a University of Nebraska site, but I do have to ask - are you watching Creighton basketball?

Note this about Nebraska Head Bowling Coach Bill Straub:

University of Nebraska Athletics confirmed that Women's Head Bowling Coach Bill Straub has been hospitalized since late last week. Nebraska Assistant Head Coach Paul Klempa will serve as the Huskers' Interim Head Coach in his absence as the bowling team begins its spring schedule with the Midwinter Classic in Jonesboro, Ark. Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst gave his full support to Coach Straub and Coach Klempa.

"On behalf of the entire athletic department, our priority is for Bill to make a complete recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill, his wife, Kim, and their daughter, as he begins the recovery process. 'APU' plans aerial protest for NCAA Convention

A week and a half after flying a message of protest over the site of the BCS Championship, the All Players United movement will take to the skies over the NCAA Convention. On Thursday afternoon, as the NCAA begins a forum to discuss future structure and governance, an airplane streaming the message, "#All Players United for an equal voice. Wake up NCAA!" will fly over the San Diego Convention Center.

It's an interesting concept that college football players could unionize, but it doesn't seem that anything will ever come of it other than a whole lotta noise.

Iowa State football assistant Curtis Bray dies at 43

Those post-practice little-kid sessions won't be the same next Iowa State football season — the ones when defensive ends coach Curtis Bray played with his two young children long after players he coached departed. "It was really kind of touching, seeing coach Bray and the Burnhams out there playing with their kids every day after we wrapped up practice," former Cyclone running back Jeff Woody said.

43 is way too young.

Carry On: The Cruelty of Fandom - Off Tackle Empire

In a short span of time, you can be quickly reminded that being a fan is generally a one-sided affair with little return. After this week in Nebrasketball, I relearned that lesson.

It's tough being a Nebraska basketball fan.... well, men's anyway. Not so tough for the women, but for the men, you know they're a better team, but they're playing in a helluva conference, and they just can't finish those games. I will say this - this basketball team is infinitely more watchable than Barry Collier's or Doc Sadler's teams - by a factor of about 15.3M.

In college coaching, it's all about who you know. | SportsonEarth.com : Robert Weintraub Article

The college coaching carousel has been extremely active in January, but it's not just head coaches: Baffling assistant moves are happening too. As surprising hires continue to be made, it's clear that what matters most is who you know.

I see it everywhere and I've heard it at football games - "Pelini hires his buddies" - made as a derisive comment by fans as if Pelini is the only guy on the planet who hires people he knows.
