Corn Flakes: Big Ten Basketball Standings Hate Nebraska

Dave Weaver-USA TODAY Sports

It's Monday morning, which is a hideous thing by itself, but when you add in the men's Big Ten basketball standings it becomes even worse unless you are not a basketball fan at which point I ask you, "Dear Sir/Madam, but are you not a fan of all Husker athletics?".

You may respond in several different ways, but if you limit your love to Nebraska football (and perhaps baseball), then I would say your only possible truthful answer would be: "No, sir, I am a only a fan of those sports that can feed my ego." Alas.

Below are the men's current standings, taken in a cut and paste from the official Big Ten Conference site where they ignore us so much they call us "NEBRAKA" as shown below - that is not my mistype. As you can see, everyone else has won a conference game but our men's basketball team. They've come close, and they've definitely improved, but they are lacking a true big man underneath and until they find one it will be difficult for them to finish in the top half of this conference.

Hey, at least I put a nice picture of a Husker cheerleader up to start the week. Doesn't she look perky? IT'S MONDAY MORNING, GET WITH IT!

Ohio State-Iowa final score: Bucks fall at home, 84-74 - Land-Grant Holy Land
This marks only the third time in the last five years Ohio State's lost consecutive games as the Buckeyes suffered their first road loss since February 10th, 2013 against then #1 Indiana.

Minnesota Basketball: Gophers Lose To Michigan State 87-75 - The Daily Gopher
The Gophers came close to a program first, but turnovers, poor rebounding, and cold shooting helped the Spartans hold off upset minded Minnesota.

Women

The women are in significantly better shape, although Sparty seems to have come out of nowhere, trouncing the Huskers 70-57 a few days ago in a game in which the Huskers never lead. Obviously it's early in the season, and the only one to separate themselves to this point is Illinois at the bottom.
