Peyton Newell, Defensive End, Commits to the Nebraska Cornhuskers

Nebraska gets out of their dry spell in recruiting by getting their Number 1 target on the defensive big board.

CN/SBN

Well, it's nice to actually write one of these every once in a while, isn't it?

Peyton Newell, the number three ranked player in the state of Kansas, did verbal to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday.

Newell measures out currently at 6'2", 282. He has a measured 40 yard dash of roughly 4.89. Newell is the 27th best DT measured by 247sports in America, and the 322nd best player in America, also by 247sports.

Newell picked the Huskers over South Carolina and both Kansas and Kansas State. HEY WE WON A BATTLE FOR SOMEONE.

It's okay to watch this and drool, folks.

With this verbal, Nebraska gets back to 12 verbal commitments for the 2014 recruiting cycle. How bad did the staff need Peyton Newell to put a red N hat on? Well, consider where they are going into the season..
