Welcome to Thursday. It's the halfway point of the month, and that means Labor Day Weekend is soon. For those that aren't going to the Nebraska/Wyoming game, are you locked into plans for the weekend? I got to admit, I am pumped for the CFB season to start.
Anyhow, lets get to the links for today.
To catch up on what you may have missed at CN yesterday, Mike was wondering what new Huskers you want to see on the football field this fall, while Aaron took issue with the SI "Top 25" that didn't have Nebraska in there. And, as always on Wednesday, Greg and I brought you the DtH Podcast, focusing on Imani Cross and Bo's "Doghouse" or whatever you call it.
Nebraska practiced twice on Wednesday, but there wasn't any media contact. You will get some tonight though, as there will be media access to Tim Beck and John Papuchis, as well as some players.
Great piece on fumbles and how Nebraska seems to be on the short end of both fumbling and losing fumbles on offense by Brandon Vogel of Hail Varsity. For all the love we wanna put on the offense, this is a legitimate concern since Bo Pelini has been in Lincoln. I would like to hope that the law of averages will catch up in this aspect, and Nebraska will finally be below that national average in both fumbles and fumbles lost this year.
Another problem that Nebraska has had in recent years is punt returns. Nice piece by Brian Christopherson at the LJS on how Jamal Turner could change things back there. ($)
Eric Martin went BOOM on the practice field in New Orleans Wednesday.
The numbers for College Basketball attendance came out Wednesday, and Nebraska averaged a touch over 10k fans a game, ranking 38th nationally in their final year at the Bob. Can you imagine the way this will skyrocket next year, KNOWING that Pinnacle Bank Arena is already sold out on season tickets for the season??
If you're one that eschews both public transportation and walking to games at Memorial Stadium this fall, UNL is going to help you with taking care of your bike. A great idea to not only stay green, but to also control your own timing on getting to and leaving the game.
I mean.... I don't really know why this is even a thing.
CBS Sports BCS guru Jerry Palm makes his bowl predictions for the season. If the Nebraska one comes true, I would think that a lot of fans would be very disappointed. Also, the storyline of Tyler Moore vs. his former school.... man.
Nice piece on Husker LB Zaire Anderson by NFL.com writer Mike Huguenin.
Maryland is going to be on B1G foodstamps for a while, folks. How long? About another four years.... I think.
Spencer Hall over at EDSBS didn't list Nebraska in his top 25 most intriguing teams this year, either.
The EA Sports college football game franchise took another hit on Wednesday, as the SEC, B1G and Pac 12 said they wouldn't be involved in the game either.
Willie Taggart sung, and they videotaped it. Lawd.
Well, the hotel guy should be commended for going verbatim on this.
Oklahoma JUCO DT Quincy Russell finally arrived in Norman for a Sooner DL that is pretty decapitated. The former Longhorn was a Nebraska target last year, but didn't get the chance to visit Lincoln.
Today's birthdays include Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lawrence, Carl Edwards, Debra Messing, and Gary Kubiak.
Today is National Relaxation Day, as well as Lemon Meringue Pie Day.
Finally, your video of the day comes from Michigan State, where a great prank takes care of the daily doldrums of Fall Camp.
(Thanks to MSUSpartanVideo)
Have a great Thursday folks.
