12:05 p.m. Game 3: Illinois vs. Michigan
3:35 p.m. Game 4: No. 2 Ohio State vs. Nebraska
7:05 p.m. Game 5: No. 1 Indiana vs. Minnesota
Round two of the 2013 Big Ten Baseball Tournament begins just after noon today as the yesterday's losers meet in the first elimination game of the tournament. One will go home, one will live to fight another day.
Nebraska will take on the #2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes at 3:35 pm. Nebraska will start Aaron Bummer, while Ohio State will start Brad Goldberg. Goldberg has a 3.13 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched, with 62 strike outs, 42 walks, and is holding opposition batters to a .240 average.
Ohio State's strength is in their bullpen. The Buckeyes don't have a standout player per se, but they have a very good bullpen. Example: Trace Dempsey, who hadn't given up a run in 30 innings until he gave up two in the final game in the Indiana series.
KEY STAT: Ohio State is 32-5 when scoring more than two runs and 25-4 when outhitting the opponent. If Nebraska expects to win this game, the offense is going to have to get going and there will be little room for mistakes.
The games are being played at Target Field in Minneapolis, home of the Minnesota Twins.
All games of the tournament will be available on BTN or streamed on BTN2GO.com.
