Nebraska Baseball: Huskers vs Minnesota Gophers

Nebraska baseball plays its most important series of the season this weekend in Minneapolis against the Big Ten Conference leaders Minnesota. The Gophers have great pitching, but suspect hitting. It should be a great series!

Nebraska begins its three-game series with the Big Ten Conference leader Minnesota Gophers this afternoon. If there is such a thing as a make-or-break series for Nebraska this season, this is it.

Win this series and Nebraska will be in position to win the Big Ten regular season title and obtain a bye in the Big Ten Conference tournament. Lose the series, and the chances of going .500 in the regular season are gone as the Huskers have only one more series (Michigan) and one more non-conference game (Creighton) left on the schedule.

The Huskers will be facing strong pitching in Minneapolis. Up first is Tom Windle, who has thrown four complete games this season and has a 1.82 ERA in 11 starts. The Gophers are second in the Big Ten in overall ERA at 2.78, just behind Indiana (2.36).

Minnesota is not a particularly strong batting team, currently ninth in the conference at .265.

This is your open thread for this afternoon's baseball game. I hope to be there. I hope you'll join us here.

We'll at stick together in all kinds of weather!!! WOWOOHOooO!!!
