Nebraska swept Purdue yesterday in a double header that featured a lot of Husker offense and some poorly timed mistakes by the Boilermakers. The Huskers took game one in relatively easy fashion, winning 10-2, putting up 12 hits while Kash Kalkowski drove in four runs.

In game two, Purdue freshman pitcher Jordan Minch held the Huskers at bay through the first seven innings, giving up only one run on four hits while striking out eight. Purdue would have a 3-1 lead going into the eighth and Boiler Brad Schreiber took the mound.

Schreiber struck out Pat Kelly, gave up a hit to Michael Pritchard and walked Chad Christensen. Hit man Kash Kaskolwski would hit a single and drive in a run, as Christensen advanced to third. Austin Darby bunted, and pitcher Schreiber made a throwing error allowing Christensen to tie the game. Husker Josh Scheffert stepped up and hit a two-RBI single to make the score 5-3.

After that, it was all good for Nebraska and all bad for Purdue as the Huskers would score nine runs in the final two innings.
