Husker News: Dennard and Biggs Sentenced

In unrelated cases, former Husker Alfonzo Dennard and current Husker Deverell Biggs both faced judges Thursday.

Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE

Former Husker DB Alfonzo Dennard's legal journey, which started just days before the NFL draft and greatly affected his draft position, is nearing an end.

According to Omaha.com:

Former Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard received Thursday a 30-day jail sentence, two years probation and 100 hours of "law-enforcement related" community service for his felony assault conviction.

On the very same day, Nebrasketball's Deverell Biggs pleaded no contest to a DUI charge stemming from an arrest in December.

According to Omaha.com:

Nebraska basketball redshirt guard Deverell Biggs was sentenced to nine month's probation Thursday after he entered a no contest plea in a driving under the influence case.

Biggs also received a $300 fine and a 60-day license suspension, and Judge Jeffrey Marcuzzo ordered him to attend alcohol-education classes and to avoid alcohol for six months, all for the first-offense DUI.

Neither incident has anything in common except both Alfonzo Dennard and Deverell Biggs once wore or will wear the scarlet and cream.

Dennard's arrest occurred after he was out of the program leaving Bo Pelini with no responsibility to react. Tim Miles is still waiting to make a decision about whether or not to discipline Biggs.

What's your reaction to Thursday's events?

Did either incident cause damage to the Husker brand?

Are you okay with the responses from Miles and Pelini?
