Husker Pitcher Kyle Kubat Still Out For Haymarket Opening Weekend

Nebraska ace has missed every start this season with "soreness". It's not the only factor in the Huskers' 0-7 start, but it isn't helping matters either.

Nebraska (0-7, 0-0 B1G) today released it's pitching rotation for this weekend's series at Haymarket Park versus New Mexico (2-4, 0-0 MWC). Husker ace pitcher Kyle Kubat is still not listed as a starter. Widely expected to be Nebraska's Friday starter, Kubat missed the opening series with soreness.

At the time, Nebraska made it sound precautionary, but Kubat will now have missed the first three weeks of the season. Fortunately, this is giving the Husker staff and pitching coach Ted Silva a chance to throw his other pitchers, but with Big Ten play looming ahead, Nebraska certainly would like to see Kubat get into a rhythm prior to conference play.

All-Big Ten outfielder Michael Pritchard has also been out since suffering an injury during an at bat at Cal State Fullerton on February 16th. His status is still unknown, but Head Coach Darin Erstad meets with the media today and more info should be available then (we'll update as they happen).

The weekend rotation remains the same as last week in Austin, when Brandon Pierce, Christian DeLeon and Ryan Hander pitched well against the Longhorns. The starters delivered 17.2 innings of work, and allowed only 7 runs during those innings. That equates to a respectable 3.66 ERA for the starters against a Top 25 team.

The schedule of games and pitching rotation is below, there is no television coverage, so get out to Haymarket Park, or catch live audio on Huskers.com
