There are 20 shopping days till Christmas. Have you even started yet? I haven't, but I don't buy much. If you say you're finished, you're fibbing.
Anyhow, on to the links for the day!
It seems that we've missed a lot in the whole "Bo Pelini job status" hoopla. One thing that stinks that I don't think has gotten enough play is that NU Volleyballer Kelsey Robinson was named Big Ten Player of the Year. How she found out in this LJS piece is awesome.
Husker AD Shawn Eichorst went on the HSN's "Sports Nightly" show on Tuesday and talked a little more in depth about his decision making when it came to Bo Pelini. Eichorst also talked about ways he has wanted to improve the game-day experience at Memorial Stadium in the future. No word if Greg Sharpe ever muted his microphone.
Yesterday, Jon talked about the bowl destination for the Huskers. This morning, Tom Shatel gives his spin on where the Big Red will spend the Holidays.
Pinnacle Bank Arena and Nebrasketball get their biggest exposure yet of the season so far tonight. The ACC/B1G Challenge continues this evening as Miami visits Lincoln for a game you will be able to see on ESPNU. Meanwhile, the Women's B-Ball team will be heading off to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina.
Terrible news for LSU QB Zach Mettenberger as he suffers a ACL tear, not allowing him to participate in the Tigers' bowl game and possibly hinders him for working out for NFL teams.
Jim Mora isn't taking that Washington job.
Good news for Scott Frost and Oregon and bad news for the rest of the P12, as Marcus Mariota and Hroniss Grasu plan on returning to Eugene next season.
Bill O'Brien released QB coach Charlie Fisher and LB coach Ron Vanderlinden off his staff on Monday. I'm not really up on Vanderlinden as far as coaching goes, but I wouldn't be upset in the slightest bit if Fischer, who turned Matt McGloin into a NFL starting QB in one season and helped develop Christian Hackenberg into a starter, showed up in Lincoln. And yes, I know it's not the same type of offense between BOB and Tim Beck. I do not care either.
Remember when Jim Grobe was linked to the Nebraska job? Well, he resigned from Wake Forest yesterday.
With Steve Sarkasian taking the USC job, it really is interesting to me that Ed Orgeron wasn't offered the job first. He resigned from finishing the season as Head Coach after he found out he wasn't getting the job. I know that Ed hadn't done well at Ole Miss, but he did pretty well this time around, and knocked off a current top 10 team (Stanford).
Texas will be taking on Baylor Saturday night in the final game at Floyd Casey Stadium. The Bears will be wearing the simple throwbacks for this final tussle, with no tarp.
So much for the Yankees being smart with their money. Their signing of Jacob Ellsbury proves that's not an option this year.
The roll call on birthdays today include Jay Z, Jeff Bridges, Tyra Banks, Wink Martindale, and Fred Armisen.
Today's video? Roll with it. No really.
(thanks skappyj)
Have a great day folks.
