This should have been a separate story here, but here it is anyway:

What Can Make This A Successful Year For Nebraska Basketball? - BT Powerhouse
Nebraska basketball could be on the upswing, but how much should Nebraska fans hope for the team to achieve?
Where are we? Well, until Nebraska can consistently stay out of the bottom three in the Big Ten, I'd say other fans aren't going to give us anything. As in ANYTHING.
Having said that, our hope this year is to make the NIT, and watch a young team grow as the program grows.

Strong candidate for Worst Sports Dad of the Year - SBNation.com
Hey, guess what? Making a little kid run next to — and then in front of! — a car while cursing at him is pretty awful. This is not "how we train for football." Jeez.
I really hope this is someone's idea of a really really bad joke, otherwise... well, this guy just looks like the biggest asshole in quite a while. I mean, if you're going to make your kid run to train for football you could at least get your lazy ass out of the car and run with him. Maybe while you're at it, you could buy him a decent pair of shoes, too, one's made for running and not crocs otherwise you'll just ruin his feet and legs before he has the chance to become the great athlete you never were.
Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, for those who don't remember, was a star wide receiver for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2007-2010, and still owns the records for most receiving yards and career receptions in school history...
He was known as DJK. His career at Iowa didn't end well. Apparently he's writing a tell-all book and mentions Kirk Ferentz making him wear a trash can on his head for a practice. I find myself skeptical......
Testudo catches fire at University of Maryland, College Park - baltimoresun.com
Testudo mascot at UMD catches fire. It's a giant turtle. Made of bronze, filled with concrete so it can't be stolen. I don't think it can be hurt, actually. Probably still be here long after us humans are gone.
Forbes: Texas Longhorns most valuable team, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Michigan in top five | Campus Union - SI.com
Nebraska is third in the Big Ten behind Michigan and Ohio State. No shock there. Bottom line - our athletic department is in pretty good shape. No shock there either.
AFCA Announces 2013 FBS Coaches' All-America Team
Conference Breakdown: SEC: 8; Big 12: 6; Pac-12: 5; ACC: 4; AAC: 1; Big Ten: 1. Alabama had four players. A while back I pointed out how many emails I got from Alabama compared to other schools about how great their players are. Noted?
The Football Writers Association of America (of which I'm a member) did a little better with two Big Ten players named to their first team:

Texas assembles eight person search committee to help hire new coach | Dr. Saturday - Yahoo Sports
Texas athletic director Steve Patterson has assembled an eight-person search committee and hired an executive search firm to assist in hiring Mack Brown’s replacement as head football coach.
Actually, it started with just four, then when to eight, and will probably hit 16 before it's over. It's known as committee creep, and it's destined many a great small team of decision-makers to devolve into consensus building failures all over the world. I mean, how do you THINK we got here?
