Darius Slade Commits To The Huskers

The DE from Montclair, New Jersey commits to the Huskers

Nebraska has definitely ramped up their efforts on the recruiting trail the weekend before the bowl dead period, haven't they?

The Huskers today got the verbal of Montclair, NJ Defensive End Darius Slade on Wednesday, December 11th.  The 6'5" 237 pounder is a rated as a three-star prospect by all the services.

Originally Slade was Michigan State's to lose, as they were the favorite to land him after a October 12th official visit to East Lansing. However, word on the street is that Sparty plans to possibly take Tight End verbal Montez Sweat and put him as a DE.

With that news, it sounds like Nebraska put the press on Slade and became the favorite on Tuesday. Today, it came to fruition with his verbal. Slade was absolutely floored when he came to Lincoln.

Along with Michigan State, Slade was targeted by Kansas, West Virginia, Penn State and Rutgers.

While we don't have anything that we currently can embed, here are Slade's Hudl highlights.

This gives the Nebraska class 19 current verbal commitments. The number of players being taken will be around 24-26 total for the cycle. This brings the current 247 National ranking of the Huskers class to 29th, and 5th in the B1G 247 ratings, jumping Michigan State.
