Once again, the Husker Sports Network microphones caught something unintended for public broadcast. This time, it was a postgame interview with Ron Kellogg III that also picked up a background conversation between Greg Sharpe, Nebraska's play-by-play announcer, and Steve Taylor, a commentator for the network. Since this became public knowledge, Huskers.com has removed the interview, but KOZN radio (1620 AM, Omaha) talk show host Mike'l Severe extracted out the audio in question. (You'll have to listen closely to the back conversation.)
Here's a compilation as to what was believed to have been said:
Sharpe: "Pelini coached scared."
Taylor: "If you keep asking for it, you're going to get fired. Self-fulfilling prophecy."
Sharpe: "Matt's (Davison) is doing the TV show. Bo says "If I'm not the head coach any longer, why would I do a TV show that airs in two days?" I'm like, OK."
Taylor: "See, I don't really think they can make the decision now."
Sharpe: "Oh, I think they will. I think it may come out tonight. He just doesn't know. They haven't talked to him."
Sharpe: "Beck will be the interim."
Taylor: "No, no, no, no. He can't handle that."
There's no indication at this time as to who appeared on the "Nebraska Footballl Show", or if it even has been recorded yet. The show typically airs on Sundays.
Updates:
Greg Sharpe later told the Omaha World-Herald that Pelini did record his television show on Friday evening.
Shawn Eichorst has announced that Bo Pelini will continue to coach Nebraska.
