Husker Volleyball Well-Represented in B1G Weekly Awards

Three Huskers received player of the week awards from the BigTen Conference today.

Husker volleyball players had a remarkable week, bring three of five conference weekly awards home to Lincoln.

It should surprise no one who watched the weekend’s matches that Kelsey Robinson was named co-player of the week, an award she shared with Michigan State’s outside hitter, Lauren Wicinski. Kelsey hit at a torrid pace over the weekend, averaging 6.3 kills/set, and hitting .417.

Meghan Haggerty was awarded the B1G defensive player of the week. Haggerty recorded 12 total blocks (solo and assisted), and added a hitting percentage of .389.

Amber Rolfzen brought home freshman of the week honors for the second time (September 16). Amber had 11 kills, 20 digs and 12 total blocks.

The Huskers were ranked tenth before the weekend, but I suspect with a sweep of number eight Minnesota, and the victory over Wisconsin, we will see them in the single digits when the rankings come out later today.
