BCS Standings Released - Huskers #24

The first BCS ranking of the season have been released, and Nebraska comes in at #24. The top four are Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, and Ohio State, in that order.

The first BCS poll of the year has been released, and as expected, Alabama is #1.

Florida State comes in at #2, ahead of Oregon at #3. There isn't a lot of distance between them, while Ohio State at #4 is over a full percentage point behind Alabama. Oregon has the toughest schedule ahead of them, while Ohio State will be held back by the Big Ten's relatively low rankings. The Buckeyes will have to hope for losses.

The Big Ten's other representatives include Michigan and Nebraska at #22 and #24, respectively. Wisconsin didn't make the rankings despite the belief that the Badgers could be the Big Ten's second best team. The end-of-game screw up by the Pac-12 officials could end up costing the Big Ten some BCS money depending upon how the season plays out.

Fresno State and Northern Illinois are the two highest non-BCS teams, but both are currently outside the magical #16 spot that could get them into a BCS bowl.

There's still plenty of season left, of course, and anything can happen!
