Today's links talk about the job openings with the Texas AD and USC HC, as well as Nathan Scheelhaase getting better from a offensive overhaul.

Welcome to the middle of the week. Where, ya know, we're just getting along in October. Baseball is in gear, and the NHL kicked off their season last night with 3 games. More on that later.

Yesterday at Corn Nation, David gave his B1G Power Poll, Greg and I answered your questions in another DtH Podcast, and I "attempted" to do CN Live, but technical issues forced me to cut it short. Therefore, we just pretended it didn't happen, and I'll get back on that next Tuesday night.

Also, Mike published his Illinois preview, albeit a day early. Go ahead and check it out this morning.

Over at the Lincoln Journal Star this morning, Brian Christopherson relays Husker OC's Tim Beck's thoughts of, wait for it.. A TWO QUARTERBACK SYSTEM. I'm going to tell you all that I'm not a fan of this, but it isn't my offense.

Also from the LJS, the time to talk is over for Avery Moss and such on the Defensive side of the ball.

The Omaha World Herald this morning offers Jon Nyatawa talking about Charles Jackson and how he's ready to get out on the field and contribute. Meanwhile, Rich Kaipust talks about how Illini QB Nathan Scheelhaase is thriving under Illinois OC Bill Cubit's overhaul.

The folks over at the Champaign Room really hope that Taylor Martinez sits this one out. And, to be honest, they may get their wish...

For the first time in 7 years, the Nebraska Women's Soccer team is ranked in the Women's Division 1 Top 25 on Tuesday. They host both Iowa and Michigan this weekend in Lincoln

Meanwhile, Connie Yori's Women's B-Ball team is going to get a lot of exposure on TV this winter. The Lady Huskers are going to appear 10 times on national TV, with at least seven of those games on BTN.

Yesterday, we told you about the possibility of the US Government shutdown making the Navy/Air Force game scheduled for Saturday on the chopping block. There is now a possibility that the game could be played with private funding.

Hey, about that whole new AD hire at Texas and possibly replacing Mack Brown? DeLoss Dodds won't be there to judge, nah. I mean, there's got to be someone that wants the job, no? I will go on the record and say there's no way in hell Joe Castiglione will take the job, and if Bob Bowlsby does, there will be no Big 12 in 4 years tops.

Speaking of folks that may not take jobs the USC job may have to be given away with Plinko or something.

Pat Fitzgerald is just smooth, man.

The Pittsburgh Pirates ran train on the Cincinnati Reds last night at PNC Park, and will go take on St. Louis in the NLDS. Cleveland and Tampa Bay get it on tonight in the AL Wild Card game.

The National Hockey League came back for another season on Tuesday night. Two things I noticed.... 1) Chicago gonna be Chicago, and 2) I'm really, REALLY not going to like the hybrid icing rule, or the whole fighting helmets thing for that matter.

Today's birthdays include Sting, Kelly Ripa, Tyson Chandler, Tiffany, and Don McLean.

And, in honor of Sting, some Police for you this morning.

Have a great middle of the week my friends.
