The Reads: Will Work For News

We made it to the weekend! Only 28 more weekends to go.

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Today's question: if you could pick a new sport for Nebraska to sponsor, men's or women's, what sport would that be and why?

Football

This is pretty darn cool - check it out!

Seriously, we're loaded. We just need to give Taylor time to throw the ball.

Wrestling

BSD previews this weekend's big wrestling match between the upstart Huskers and the #1 Nittany Lions.

NCAA

Hate the NCAA? An actual lawyer is here to explain why its misconduct during its Miami Hurricanes investigation is its most nefarious deed yet.

It's good to someone: the schools who hide for-profit businesses behind the byzantine code of amateurism, the executives at the NCAA who collect six-figure paychecks for eating lunch for a living, and for the basketball programs taking their cut of the NCAA's sale of March Madness.

Big Ten

Scouts left the Senior Bowl on Wednesday after the final padded practices of the week, and their impressions of Michigan's Denard Robinson as a receiver were decidedly unfavorable. "Not good," one AFC scout told the Free Press. "I think he took himself from like the third, fourth round to like the sixth, seventh round."

A look at the current recruiting rankings in the Big Ten and a discussion on where things are headed.

National News

Brad Bigler's was living his dream. A head basketball coach who married his college sweetheart and was raising a family. Then, in a 13-month span, his life completely changed.

Absolutely gut-wrenching.

Georgia is really not a fan of Florida.

That's one heck of a fullback.

Fisher's lone remaining assistants are holdovers from former coach Bobby Bowden's staff.

That's insane.

Interesting perspective.

We'll ignore that Notre Dame's wins against Stanford and Purdue came from officiating mistakes, not actual play on the field. We won't even talk about almost losing to Pitt or Lane Kiffin's Southern Cal team.

Oh, and they've been recruiting like a "top SEC" team for YEARS. Brian Kelly is the ONLY reason Notre Dame is going anywhere and they don't pull off another undefeated season this fall.

Was he in on it? Almost certainly. But it's also possible that he deliberately overlooked the inconsistencies because he didn't want to know the truth. He wanted to maintain the illusion.

I feel like this thing can't go well for Te'o. At best, GMs have got to be leery of his lying over the last couple of months. And you know these programs are all digging in his background more than Deadspin, ESPN or that Notre Dame investigation. I hope there's nothing else waiting.

''He told me he wanted to end the relationship,'' O'Meara said. ''He said he wanted to stop the relationship between Lennay and Manti, but Manti didn't want Lennay to break up with him ... He said he tried to stop the game many times.''

Seems to me, if you've never met each other and it's 100% on the internet, breaking off a fake relationship is fairly easy.
