Slowly, Nebraska's 2013 class is starting to gain some steam. And while it may not be done, it's got to avoid some hiccups.
First, the good:
4-star ATH Tre'vell Dixon says he has committed to #Nebraska momentsago.#Huskers
— Nate Clouse (@NateClouse) January 20, 2013
Dixon was originally the very first commit to the 2013 cycle. A 4 star "athlete" out of Baldwin, Louisiana, the 6'1" athlete decommitted to Nebraska back in July after Corey Raymond left Lincoln. However, considering that LSU never came knocking with an offer, Terry Joseph was able to get Dixon back in the fold. He joined OT Matt Finnin with a commitment for Nebraska this weekend.
And, just for you all, we've forgotten the things you've said about Dixon
Next, the "we hope will come through and be good":
Team mate of #Huskers recruit Dwayne Johnson says Dwayne has committed to Nebraska. bit.ly/VFEq1R
— Jeff Mason (@RedSideline) January 21, 2013
Hooray!!
.@un_lincoln I just spoke with Dwayne Johnson and he said reports that he has committed to Nebraska are not true.
— Nate Clouse (@NateClouse) January 21, 2013
Un Hooray???
It sounds like Johnson, who is a OT from Bellaire (Houston) Tx, wants to pull the trigger, and loved his visit to Lincoln this weekend. Word is that he's going to announce on Wednesday. Lets hope it happens and Nebraska can get another HUUUUGE Offensive Tackle from this weekend.
And now... the not so good:
Potential flip of Nebraska commit WR Dominic Walker may beat Derrick Green's announcement.. so next commit prediction is now Dominic Walker.
— EagleDamnWar (@EagleDamnWar) January 21, 2013
Nebrasksa will do an in-home visit with Dominic Walker on Monday with AU coaches coming later in week. No more OVs.
— EagleDamnWar (@EagleDamnWar) January 21, 2013
Now, this is very interesting, in that I don't know if Bo Pelini is doing the in-home with Walker, the WR commit from Florida, or it's just a combo of Tim Beck and Terry Joseph. Either way.... only closers get coffee, boys.
The second one is more mysterious, and quite honestly the one Nebraska fans needs to sweat right now.
From what I'm hearing watch UK to flip 4* Safety Marcus McWilson and/or 4* Safety Godwin Igwebuike by National Signing Day #UKRecruiting
— Tyler Smith (@TylerRSmith_KHB) January 18, 2013
Losing McWilson, the Nebraska Safety commitment to Kentucky and Vince Marrow and Mark Stoops would sting big time for this class and take it down a notch, no matter what recruiting service you deem to use.
Is it fair that Marrow is now recruiting against Bo when he did him well for a while? Maybe so, and we've covered this time and time again. That being said, a Stoops brother is also a card-carrying member of the "Youngstown Mafia" and there is honestly no gentleman's agreement in recruits whether they come from Cardinal Mooney or not.
Do we sweat it if McWilson doesn't visit? Not really. Do we sweat if McWilson does visit? YEP.
Nebraska has come a long way since the first week of December, but with about 14 days to the close, there is no stopping to get to the finish line. A good class is upon the Huskers, but there will be no relief till the staff gets them all in ink and suited up.
As normal, we'll have updates as they come in. Two weeks to National Signing Day, it's getting good everyone.
