Nebraska Football Recruiting: Rewind for the Week of 1/18/2013

Head back to the main screen of your recruiting DVD and let's pick up from last Saturday.

Brandon Cavanaugh

Another back and forth week on the recruiting trail which, if you're not familiar with how this game is played, is not uncommon come this portion of it. Let's recap the good, the bad and the utterly confusing.

- Offensive lineman Dan Samuelson made his decision between Nebraska and Michigan two days early, decomitting from the Huskers and adding to the Wolverines' class.

- The hole left by Samuelson was quickly filled as defensive end Ernest Suttles committed quickly thereafter.

- I popped on the Detassling the Huskers podcast and chatted with Brian about the current tight end situation and Braylon Heard's potential future.

- Absolute freak athlete Elijah Qualls was allegedly scheduled to visit Nebraska the weekend before National Signing Day before, whoops, he wasn't.

- Priest Willis has eliminated Nebraska. (My projection: LSU)

- Nebraska has scheduled a Junior Day for January 24.

- A list of preferred walk-ons is beginning to be compiled.

- This sounds promising (laying sarcasm on thick):

For those of you who don't remember, McWilson was recruited by departed graduate assistant-now-Kentucky Wildcats tight ends coach Vince Marrow.

Marrow was instrumental in Nebraska having a shot at the nation's No. 1 JUCO tight end, Beau Sandland who eventually committed to Miami (FL).

He also was the only point of contact for former defensive end commit Antoine Miles who yanked his pledge shortly after the news about Marrow's departure broke.

- Tight end Cethan Carter committed to Nebraska giving the Huskers commit No. 21. He does not have a full scholarship offer from LSU and is scheduled to visit Baton Rouge this weekend. Make of that what you will.

Nebraska's recruiting class as of today:

Quarterback (1): Johnny Stanton

Running back (2): Terrell Newby, Adam Taylor

Wide Receiver (2): Kevin Gladney, Dominic Walker
