Please excuse this interruption while everyone's down in the dumps with the cancellation of the spring game and will have to forgo their annual spring football fix. But lost amidst the din of the anxiety over Taylor Martinez's mechanics overhaul and the curiosity of how Mo Siesay is adjusting to Bo Pelini's system while trying to fill in the massive shoes of LaVonte David is the fact that the basketball team hosted a handful of prospects this weekend.
That in and of itself is not news. Doc hosted players on the weekend of the spring game as well, but these were not your typical Nebrasketballers. These were some of the highest rated recruits over the next couple of recruiting classes including 5 star center Jahlil Okafor, the 2nd rated player overall in the country in the 2014 class and holds an offer from just about every school you've ever heard of.
There were at least 5 other recruits (Subscription required) that made the trip to Lincoln with 3 receiving offers, including Okafor. They are all AAU teammates. They play for Mac Irvin Fire. Okafor and Co. toured the facilities and had a chance to play some pick up ball with the current members on the team. The players raved about the facilities and evidently showed well on the court as well.
Now, it's no secret why these guys came here and none of them have signed or committed, but to get them on campus and to see the facilities is more than Nebraska basketball has been able to get out of a top recruit, a McDonald's All-American type of guy, perhaps ever. Tim Miles hasn't been on the job for a month and he's already got the ear of some of the best talent in the country. Now he just needs to seal the deal, but so far, score one for new facilities and connections.

- In other news, it appears as though JUCO All-American PG Deverell Biggs is inching closer to committing and signing with Nebraska and may have done so already. However, there is no official word yet (Subscription), but it does look promising. Biggs has been outspoken in his desire to play with Omaha Central standout PF Akoy Agau. Should Biggs pull the trigger, it would also bode well for NU in their courtship of Agau as well. An interesting note, Biggs seems willing to redshirt the 2012-13 season in order to have 2 years to on the court with Agau.
- In other roster news, PF Fahro Alihodzic, has been released from his scholarship.
