Please Help Us Support The D.R.E.A.M.

Big Dreams Weekend

Corn Nation has grown large enough and has enough fan support that I'd like to see us start to support more charities. The SB Nation Iowa site Black Heart Gold Pants has been doing it for the past couple of years, having raised over $20k with their "Touchdown for Kids" effort, so why can't we?

I realize I'm getting started very late in the process for this week's spring game, but what the heck. Like they say, better late than never. Given that, I've chosen former Husker Steve Warren's D.R.E.A.M. foundation for our charity this year. From their web site:

D.R.E.A.M.'s mission is to expand opportunities for youth and families by providing positive role models, invaluable life experiences and ongoing support and assistance. D.R.E.A.M., which stands for Developing Relationships through Education Athletics and Mentoring, began its work in 2006 with the vision of professional football player Steven Warren, his wife Heidi and good friend Kevin Jordan.

What I've done is asked that you pledge $500 towards D.R.E.A.M.'s third annual bowling event, with the money going to support their efforts in assisting

To support our effort, please go to the Corn Nation's FirstGiving.com web site and pledge your support.

D.R.E.A.M. will have several events going on during "Big Dreams Weekend", including the Celebrity Bowling Challenge and a Tailgate party at Nebraska Bookstore before the Spring Game. More information can be found at the Big Dreams Weekend web site.

If you happen to know of an ongoing Nebraska charity we can support, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Just send me an email with your contact information and a reason as to why you'd like CN's support.

Thank you and Go Big Red!
