Just more confusion and "airing of grievances". Things aren't better but it's time to move on.
Anyway, I don't have much to say today other than happy trails to Bielema. Those who think this is a black eye for the Big Ten are putting way too much stock in Bielema's opinion. This is the same guy who complained about Urban Meyer's recruiting tactics last spring - now he's in a conference where those recruiting tactics are common-place, not unique. Good luck with that one, Biels.
Oh, and I'd love for Barry Alvarez to coach in the Rose Bowl. If you're a Big Ten partisan, you have to think that's the best outcome. Maybe the Big Ten will win more than just the Capital One Bowl.
However, some suggestions have been made that Alvarez might try and become the Badger head coach again on a more permanent basis and that's less thrilling but might mean the East is actually fairly competitive instead of just Urban Meyer's empty road to the Big Ten Championship every year.
Anyways, it's a slow news day.
But hey, the women's basketball team takes on the Creighton Jays tonight at 7pm on ESPN3 (not televised). Join us as we try and watch on our tiny computer screens!
(And remember, Nebrasketball takes on the Jays tomorrow night on ESPN3 and Volleyball takes on Washington this Friday on ESPN3. Sometimes things don't make sense.)
Rex Burkhead
Oh, I missed this a few weeks ago during my leave of absence. Burkhead was in NYC this week accepting the honor. From the description:
Each member of the 2012 National Scholar-Athlete Class will travel to New York City to be honored December 4 during the 55th NFF Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports. They each receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship, and one member of the class will also be announced live at the event as the 23rd recipient of the William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation.
(The Campbell Trophy was awarded to Barrett Jones out of Alabama. Congratulations, Barrett!)
Congratulations, Rex!

If you aren't listening, you're doing humanity a disservice. Or something.
Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia is like Nebraska without the mind-numbing brain farts. And their coach is a Nebraskan.

Let's win Omaha! Go Nebraska!
Nebrasketball
Tim Miles is trolling football right now. "Hey guys, want some positive vibes?"
Big Ten Conference
And expect Pittsburgh's Paul Chryst to get a call...and so Pittsburgh could be on coach number five in four years. (Note, he's apparently released a statement about his commitment to Pitt. Let's wait and see who Wisconsin hires.)
I believe it is more an indictment of Wisconsin than of the Big Ten. We're the wealthiest conference (our TV deals pay out more than the SEC's) and yet Wisconsin couldn't find a way to keep their coach?
Good for Purdue.
Congrats Purdue. The East needs some help. Urban Meyer has the easiest route to champ game of any coach in Big Ten. (This was clipped before it was official. Now it's official.)
Steve Pederson deserves nothing less.
National News
The description of the K-State Oregon game is just so perfect.
Shared without comment. (go cubs.)
A busy day on the hiring wire. Temple is open. I like that one of Addazio's qualities is that Tim Tebow likes him. (And yes, BC fans are as underwhelmed as you are - Notre Dame's Diaco was also a candidate.)
No surprises here, really. Though I really thought Arkansas would make a play here.
Alabama sleeper cell? Alabama sleeper cell. (Moot point now.)
Good news! Nebraska won't have to gameplan for an unfamiliar coach at UCLA next year.

Because it's such a slow news day...let's hit YouTube.
Apparently some Razorback fans are excited. Or at least one.
You're welcome.

That's all for today!
