Leroy Alexander wasted no time making a commitment to the Big Red after an offer was extended following his visit to Lincoln. The Whitmer HS senior from Toledo, OH, is a Rivals 3-star Athlete who did a little bit of everything on both sides of the ball. He is 6'2" 190 and is listed as having a 4.42 forty time. As always, take the forty times with a grain of salt, but in his film, he looks anything but slow.
Alexander appears to be a diamond in the rough type of pick-up who flew under the recruiting services radar for a bit because of transfer and academic issues. His only previous offer was from Toledo, but Michigan St. and Iowa had also latched on in the last few weeks and were showing late interest as well. He is very close to to acheiving eligibility academically.
Alexander made a late recognition push, only recently being listed as the #60 Athlete nationally. He played defensive back, slot receiver, ran out of the backfield, designed a graphics matrix for the school's replay board and not only designed the teams offense, but transferred the playbook to interactive touchscreen for everyone's Ipad. Talk about versatile. Okay, I made the the parts up.
He likely starts on the offensive side of the ball for the Huskers, but also gives them another option as a returner. The Ohio connections from staff and players also helped bring this one home as Alexander noted that the presence of the Marrows (Coach Vince and RB Mike) and DT Kevin Williams would give him an anchor as he adjusted to life 12 hours from home.
(Note: Cali OL Corey Whitaker has committed as well, will have a capsule up shortly. Or over lunch. Or later today. Stop yelling at me!!)
