Nebraska Alumni Association Husker Huddles - Are They Worth It?

A while back I attended the Nebraska Alumni Association's event in Minnesota as they were touring throughout Big Ten land. It was a good chance to see some of the other Nebraskans/Husker fans I haven't seen for a while, and it was pretty well attended, a sign that there's a lot of fans up here anxious for that first game against Minnesota.

A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from the Alumni Association inviting me to a Husker Huddle - an event sponsored by the Alumni Association held before the Nebraska road games. Information is after the jump.....

Here is your chance!

To purchase up to four (4) Husker Huddle passes.....

Cost is $55/pass and does not include a game ticket. Please have your credit card ready. The limited number of passes will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Not familiar with Husker Huddles? Here are a few details about the Oct. 22 event:

  • The official Nebraska pre-game party, the Minnesota Husker Huddle will be at the McNamara Alumni Center, 200 Oak St. SE, right across the street from TCF Bank Stadium!
  • Features the Husker Sports Network's live pre-game broadcast.
  • Includes appearances by university and athletic department dignitaries, former Husker football players and more!

I realize they provide a gathering point for Husker fans who are traveling, but I've never attended one of these events. I typically wander around, talking to people at tailgate parties and taunting opposing fans. Ok, honestly, I try to avoid places that "proper behavior" (the word "dignitaries" - a sure sign that someone will be wearing a suit and tie) might be a requirement because I'm still one of the loudest sunsabitches I've ever met, and nice, proper people tend to get taken aback by that.

Now that they're coming to Big Ten land, I'm wondering if it might be worth it. I am guessing that this same contemplation is occurring across the Big Ten as Nebraska alumni (and fans) are confronted with new options on what they're going to do for Game Day activities.

So.... if you've been to one of these, please give us some feedback. And if you're one of those fans who are wondering what they're going to do on all these new game days, leave us a comment about what you might be planning.
