Fun Friday Screws Up And Declares A Free For All

Monday I screwed up and forgot to post a Fun Friday poll.

Maybe that's just a sign that it's April, the Red-White Spring Game is still over a week away, and to be honest, there doesn't seem to be the buzz around Husker football that there was last year.

Maybe it's that we're all talking about the same things, the same news and it's a bit redundant. I don't think that's true, though, because I saw this Pelini quote and I didn't see anyone taking him to task for it.

"There isn't a bad perception of Bo Pelini out there, I don't believe," he said. "People know who I am, what I represent. When you deal with this politically correct society we live in today, where people blow things out of proportion, the people who are involved in athletics don't get caught up in all that. That's more for the media and people who have never competed a day in their lives."

It's a pretty strong quote, isn't it, especially that last line? Or maybe everyone just agrees with Pelini and recognizes that we do live in a politically correct society, and things do get blown out of proportion (What? Really?).

Or maybe it's just spring, and spring is a wonderful time of year, especially here in Minnesota. It started out bad, but it turned out to be a pretty good week. I actually accomplished some things at work (my real job) that were hanging around way too long.

Tuesday night, the Nebraska Alumni Association came to Minnesota as part of their Big Ten Tour and there was a pretty good turn out. I don't think they expected as many as showed up, around 80, but they did a pretty decent job. Mostly, it was good to see a lot of familiar faces - those people who put together Minnesotans for Nebraska (MN4NE) years ago - and knowing that I'll probably see them a lot more often in the years to come.

So, today's Fun Friday theme?

It's a free-for-all.

I realize that doesn't leave you with much, but I hope the abstract in you will come through. And maybe someone can put a good picture of Pelini on Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever album.
