2011 NFL Draft Projection - Nebraska's Pierre Allen, Sr.

It's NFL Draft week and here at CN we'll be previewing some of the 2010 Huskers that are projected to be taken in the upcoming draft this weekend...

At 6'4" and around 275 pounds, Pierre Allen will fit into the NFL somewhere. Allen is not rated as one of the highest defensive ends in the draft - he's rated around 13-15.

Here's what I know about Allen from watching him play at Nebraska for the past three years. Allen totaled 39 starts over three years. He was a steady, consistent performer over that timeframe, and played through the injuries that come with playing on the defensive line. He wasn't known for having explosive speed off the edge, but he did a good job of holding his own against the run and containing to the outside.

Allen earned first-team All-Big 12 honors his final season after leading the league in quarterback hurries. He had 65 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He finished his Husker career with 184 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and 25 quarterback hurries.

Allen has no character issues that I'm aware of.

Projection:

NFL draftniks have projected Allen to go as high as the third round and as low as the sixth. In a recent mock draft held by the SB Nation NFL sites, Allen was selected in the sixth round by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also taken in the sixth round by the Bengals in the Sporting News mock draft.

Is that foreshadowing, or where or when do you expect Allen to go?

The first round of the 2011 NFL Draft starts at 8 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, April 28th and SB Nation has everything you need to prepare for it - NFL mock drafts, draft projections, scouting reports, the full NFL draft schedule and more.
