SCORE UPDATE: Final - Nebraska 76 SDSU 64
Nebraska is coming off a tough loss at home to the Oregon Ducks, a game that we really should have won. The defense wasn't able to completely shut down the Duck offense, but the real factor was Bo Spencer and his inability to get on track. Had he started to get to the rack closer to the first half, he probably would have made the difference. Diaz had a nice game with a game high 21 points, and Talley chipped in with 18 of his own. Give the guys credit, they did claw their way back into the game after being down by as much as 17 in the second half, but just fell short after tying it in the final minute.
As it stands, it's a loss. The beauty of college basketball, is that you can move on. Quickly.
Today's thread is for Husker Hoops, and all the rest of College Football going on this afternoon. GBR!
Game Notes:
- Against Oregon, Nebraska allowed 80+ points for just the fifth time in Doc Sadler's six seasons as head coach. South Dakota State is averaging 71.3 ppg so far this season.
-The Jackrabbits are led by Junior point guard Nate Wolters, who averaged 19.5 ppg and 6 assists during the 2010-11 season. So far this season, he is averaging almost identical numbers.
-SDSU has lost the only two games they've played against D-1 schools. (Minnesota and Georgia)
-Nebraska will face SDSU for just the second time since 1981, with the last meeting coming in a Husker win back in 2005.
-Husker Caleb Walker is currently ranked 2nd in the Big Ten in 3-point percentage(72.7), and 3rd in the Big Ten in FG percentage. Amazingly, he is averaging 10.5 ppg, yet has only taken 20 shots in 4 games.
-The Rabbits average a whopping 25% of their total points from the free throw line this season.
-The Jackrabbits return three starters and eight letterwinners from a team that went 19-12 before losing to eventual champion Oakland in the Summit League Tournament last year.
-Nebraska's next game will be a home contest versus Wake Forest in the Big Ten /ACC Challenge on Wednesday, 11/30.
