Sorry, not much of a preview here. Work issues prevented me from even checking in here today, so this will be short and sweet!
Luckily the Husker women have Kansas on the slate tonight. Pre-game ceremonies should be bitter-sweet, as we should see a packed house honoring a very special senior class. Nikki Bober, Kelsey Griffin, Kala Kuhlmann, Cory Montgomery, Nicole Neals, and Yvonne Turner make up the largest senior class in Nebraska womens basketball history. In addition to having the largest senior class ever, check out some of these accomplishments:
- Most successful senior class in history, by winning 14 straight conference games and 27 total games on the year.
-This season will see the Huskers earn their 4th straight post-season tournament bid.
-Nebraska will be playing in it's 3rd NCAA tournament in 4 years.
-This years team won the conference title outright for the first time in 22 years.
Not to shabby for a season that still has a few more team awards left to accomplish, in addition to some individual hardware up for grabs. Kelsey Griffin looks to be one of the leading candidates for National Womens Player of the Year on the court, and has been selected to the 3rd All Big 12 Academic team for her 3rd time. All six seniors will finish the year with Bachelors degrees, something to be proud of for certain. I wish I could be there to see the last home stand from this talented group. Thank you seniors, for making Husker fans everywhere proud!
As far as the game goes, not much to say. Kansas is 5-9 in the league, and we all know how much butt the Huskers have been kicking. I just hope the coaches don't rest our impact players too much...an undefeated season would be just another special accolade for this bunch of over-achievers
