New Husker Football Movie: "Walk Ons: Huskers’ Edge" - But What About Out of State Husker Fans?

Husker fans have no doubt heard of the new Nebraska football documentary about the walk-on program. If not, from the press release:

"Walk Ons: Huskers’ Edge" tells the story of the University of Nebraska’s football walk-on program, following the young men, raised with Nebraska values and dreaming of becoming a Husker and playing in Memorial Stadium. Former Husker walk-on greats Jeff and Joel Makovicka, Jeff Jamrog, Jason Peter and Langston Coleman talk about their walk-on experiences, with sportscasters and analysts, as well as Tom Osborne and current Husker coach Bo Pelini, discussing the past and present impact of the fabled program.

The documentary is a production of NET Television, a service of NET. "Walk Ons: Huskers’ Edge" will be broadcast statewide Tuesday, August 4, at 7 p.m. CT on NET1 and in high-definition on NET-HD.

That's all well and good for in-state Husker fans, but what about those of us who live outside the state? Why are we always being left out of this kind of stuff??? This is 2009, for crying out loud, there's the Internet, and social media, and technology..... Arrrrghhh!

That was my initial thought, anyway. Then I remembered that those people at NET are pretty savvy. Certainly they'd have something available for the rest of us. And they do!!!!

Good news -- you can stream the documentary on NET's web site -- netNebraska.org/television -- three separate days/times:

  • Tuesday, August 4 at 7 p.m. CT
  • Thursday, August 6 at 8 p.m. CT
  • Sunday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m.

For in-state Husker fans.... well, people in Omaha, there's a premier complete with celebrities:

NET is premiering the program at Marcus Village Pointe Theatre in Omaha on Thursday, July 30. Showings will be at 2, 3:30, 5 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase online at marcustheatres.com or in person at the Marcus Village Pointe Box Office.

Former Husker players and celebrities will be available to greet guests and sign autographs. Kevin Kugler and Adrian Fiala, hosts of NET Television's series "Big Red Wrap-Up," will be on hand prior to the four screenings.
