"I think we have the strongest conference in the country," Anderson said Tuesday during the Big 12 coaches' preseason teleconference. "I just think that when you get into Regional play and Super Regional play, I think the Big 12 will be there.
"I think we'll have six, maybe seven (NCAA bids), and if we don't, it's not because we're not strong. It's because other people don't recognize that we're a great conference and should have that many in there."
Previously, Ryan commented about a Big 12 pre-season ranking by Rivals.com that nearly mirrors the coaches poll (Oklahoma and Texas Tech's positions are flip-flopped in the Rivals.com poll). He includes some additional insights on the the Big 12, particularly about Oklahoma State's high ranking. He also compares the rankings to the national rankings and draws some conclusions there, including as to why the Big 12 is a tough conference.
So... the bottom line is that we're in one of the toughest conferences, we're a 'Northern' team, we're returning some good pitches but need to find consistency and offense. Remember that last season's end came when we scored a single run against Miami (agh, pain!) and Manhattan in two consecutive losses in Lincoln (the good news being that Texas failed to reach the CWS)?
