Lots of Husker Action Tomorrow And Andra Franklin

Andra Franklin was the starting fullback for Nebraska 1978-1980 and spent four years in the NFL. (Source: Sports Illustrated)

Remember that the Husker basketball team takes on Oregon at 2:00 pm central, in a game shown nationally on Fox Sports Net. For those of us out of state, it's a somewhat rare chance to see Doc Sadler, Alex Maric, Charles Richardson and newcomer Ryan Anderson in action.

The #25 Husker women's basketball team plays Michigan tomorrow evening at Devaney Center. Fans are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys For Tots. Video is available only through a Huskers.com subscription.

The Husker volleyball team swept San Diego today, so tomorrow at 3:00 pm central they play Minnesota in a game that will be shown on ESPNU. The number one seed in that region was Florida, the home team, so it's surprising that Minnesota beat them. Beat Minnesota, and we have a trip to Omaha for the Final Four!!!! This is a HUGE game because if memory serves me, Nebraska has never won a regional in another state to advance to the Final Four.

Andra Franklin died this week at age 47. Franklin was playing for Nebraska while I was playing high school football (not that I was very good, but I did play). What I remember most about him is that it seemed like he could run through a wall. A concrete wall. A concrete, steel-reinforced wall. And then he'd have a guy follow him through the hole he made.

47 years is too few years on this earth. Remember his family in your prayers around Christmas time, and remember that this time of year is not for fighting with your relatives or in-laws.
