Danny Woodhead of Chadron State has won the Harlon Hill trophy, given to the best player in Division II. This is Woodhead's third straight season as a candidate for the award.
Woodhead received 187 total points in the voting, winning by a 87-point margin over the second-place finisher. Woodhead received 48 first-place votes and received points on 73 of the ballots cast by Division II sports information directors.
Woodhead's selection broke an eight-year streak where a quarterback won the award. Woodhead is the first running back to win the Hill Trophy since Emporia State's Brian Shay in 1998.
