Really, not trying to beat a dead horse here, but is there anyone out there that really understands the walk-on program besides Nebraska?  The comment was repeated again by our wonderful ABC analysts.  Paraphrased, "they said that you can't build a program around walk-ons.  Having 4 or 5 walk-ons as starters just doesn't work. Nebraska just does not have the talent to field a team."  OK, anyone with a brain realizes that the population of a state is a big factor in the amount of players available.  OK, anyone with a brain understands that the metropolitan areas get more press and attention paid to their programs.  I agree with all of that.  Nebraska is a rural state, with most of its teenage boys playing 6- 8 man ball, and the majority of the rest are playing 11-man ball in rural areas because of consolidated schools.  What some people just don't get is that these boys in Nebraska are not recognized by the big talkers out there like Rivals.  Osborne said, "he never paid attention to the rivals scores."  Why would you, at least completely.  I strongly believe with Osborne's philosophy that you cannot underestimate or replace the HEART of a passionate football player. Especially those that are born and raised in the Nebraska rural areas.  I'm not saying that we have the best athletes, I'm not saying that places like Texas don't have the best choice of quantity of athletes.  I'm saying that from personal experience, the attitude of some of those scholarship, publicized players do not have the Heart that it takes to win.  They are satisfied to be recognized and play for a DI school.  They are sometimes, and right now I believe not as dedicated as they should be.  I believe that Pelini can change this around, but he has some serious issues to deal with and some kids from Nebraska that have the HEART to do whatever it takes to get THE BIG RED  back where it belongs.

Just wondering if any of you out there watched the game on ABC?  I was at the game, but heard at work on Monday that the commentators made reference to "you can't build a national program with walk-ons."  Just wondering if that was true or if anyone could set me straight on that? If that is true, I have a few ideas of how to "let my light shine on them" if you know what I mean.

Try 245 instead of 220.  Great pick for a Nebraska boy walk-on.  Give him half a chance and he will do whatever it takes to help the huskers come back to life.  Hope he red-shirts so that he has 4 more years.  Great kid, super work ethic, will do what it takes. Funny, he never played DT, but he is fast, anchored the 4 x 100 relay team and threw the shot 57' 10.
