Nebraska Baseball: Huskers Rise in the Polls

Husker fans may have expected this year's team to do better than last, but this much better is like Christmas, your birthday and the Fourth of July all wrapped into one. Big change from last year. Part of that can be attributed to new pitching coach Eric Newman, but most of it is the result of a team that plays together.

  • The NCBWA poll has us at #7, up from #9.

Texas A&M is ranked right in front of us at #6, Oklahoma State right behind at #8, Missouri is at #16, and I don't know why the hell they continue to rank Texas, but they're right there at #26.

up from #14 the previous week. Figure that.
Texas A&M is #8, Missouri at #10, Oklahoma State at #10, and Missouri at #15.

Texas A&M at #9, Oklahoma State is at #18,  and Texas at #20.

Texas A&M is at #7, and Oklahoma State at #10, Missouri at #14.

Big 12 Baseball Weekly Review - April 13th, 2008 - Texas Suffers Edition

- Texas A&M takes over the lead in conference after Nebraska loses to Oklahoma State and the Aggies sweep Oklahoma

- Nebraska suffers their first Big 12 series loss

- Texas suffers after giving up a school-record 31 runs on Friday to Missouri

- Kansas sweeps Texas Tech

Husker Baseball Moves Up To #6 in Four Polls

No big shock as Nebraska rose in the college baseball polls again this week after sweeping Texas Tech.


  • Nebraska finished 14-13 in the Big 12 in 2007. At this point in the season our Big 12 record is 10-1-1 with 15 Big 12 games left.
  • Overall record in 2007 was 32-27. We are 24-4-1, eight wins away from the 2007 total, and 23 losses ahead.
  • By this time last season, the Huskers had already lost three series to Texas Tech, Missouri, and Texas A&M before finally winning a series against Oklahoma State. We haven't lost a series yet this season and have recorded two series sweeps against Kansas State and Texas Tech.

Nebraska Baseball Moving Up In the Polls

With a series win against Texas in Austin last week, Nebraska's baseball team continues it's upward movement in the polls.

  • NCWBA moved Nebraska up to #22 from #30 the week previous. Missouri, Texas, and Texas A&M remain ahead of us at #10, #13, and #16, respectively. Oklahoma State and Baylor, #23, and #29, are also ranked.

  • Baseball America moved us up to #11 from #19. Missouri dropped from #2 to #4, while Texas dropped from #13 to #16. Baylor dropped from their poll.

  • Collegiate Baseball moved us up all the way to #9 from #15, making us the top-ranked Big 12 team. Missouri dropped to #12 from #5, while Texas went from #12 to #15. Texas A&M went to #23 from #26.

  • ESPN/ USA TodayCollege Coaches Poll moved us to #10 from #17 the previous week. Missouri dropped one place to #7 this week, while Texas dropped from #10 to #14. Texas A&M rose to #19 from #22.
